The Winners of the 2008 Community Coding Contest are...

by crpietschmann 10/16/2008 3:02:00 AM

And the Winners are...

We are finally at the conclusion of an awesome contest, and the winners are....

1st Place - 100 votes - CCNetConfig

2nd Place - 98 votes - Scrumr

Congratulations you guys; the voting for these two projects was neck and neck for awhile and it was unclear which was going to be 1st or 2nd. In the last minutes of voting, CCNetConfig squeezed past Scrumr with only 2 more votes placing it in 1st place.

Here's the full voting results:

Thanks for Participating!!

I must extend a very big "Thank You" to all of you who participated in this contest; both those who submitted entries and those who voted. Without any of you this awesome contest could have never taken place.

Even though there are only prizes for the 1st and 2nd place winners, the runners up are still really good projects. I really encourage everyone to go check them out.

Thanks again! And, Happy Coding!!

Entry Submission Page Fixed!

by crpietschmann 7/22/2008 1:23:00 AM

There was a small bug that was preventing any more contest entries from being submitted. This bug is now fixed. Sorry about that.

I look forward to seeing all the great entries that get submitted.

How much interest is there in the contest?

by crpietschmann 7/8/2008 8:58:00 AM

Since the website went up on June 30th, there has only been 1 entry submitted. Also, the website has only recieved 102 visits, and the RSS feed currently only has 4 subscribers. From what I can tell, the contest isn't having as much interest from the community as I was initially hoping. Because of this, I have decided to trim down the prizes to only give prizes to the first and second place winners.

I do request that if you are working on a contest entry, please post a comment or contact me to let me know that you are going to submit an entry to the contest. There is no need to mention what your project entry will be until you submit it; I would just like to get a better idea of how much interest there is in the contest.

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing what entries get submitted in the coming weeks,

Community Coding Contest Website Launched!

by crpietschmann 6/29/2008 8:53:00 AM

The Official Community Coding Contest website is now Live!

This is the Community Coding Contest, that I originally announced on my blog, as a method to give away 3 MSDN Premium subscriptions that I recieved from Microsoft (because I'm an MVP) to give away as I see fit. This coding contest is the best way I could think of to give them away. I'm hoping to see many people enter, and no project is to big or small. Let the fun begin!

Also, the best part about this contest is, it's being judged by the community (that means YOU)!

In short, you can submit any open source program/application you write using Microsoft products to enter the contest. See the full contest rules for the description of what requirements each contest entry must meet.

This contest is in no way affiliated with or sponsored by Microsoft. It is an independent, free contest being coordinated by Chris Pietschmann.

Prizes

Currently the prizes I have to give away are:

1st Place - 1 MSDN Premium Subscription with Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite

2nd Place - 1 MSDN Premium Subscription with Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite

3rd Place - 1 MSDN Premium Subscription with Visual Studio 2008 Team Suite

4th Place - Windows Vista Ultimate with SP1 and Visual Studio 2008 Professional

The full contest rules are now posted, and will begin accepting contest submissions on July 1.

Contest Sponsors

I am still working on getting more sponsors to donate prizes, but so far we have had the following sponsors donate:
